The Virtual Doula

Some couples prefer a more intimate birth experience but still feel they can benefit from the prenatal, birth and early postpartum support a doula can provide.  For some couples the cost of hiring a traditional birth doula is not within their budget.   

As a Birth Doula I believe that the most important work I do with a client is prenatally.  I truly believe that the decisions the couple makes and the education they receive has the largest influence on whether they have the birth they desire.  Because of this I am very proactive with my doula clients.  Asking questions, giving information where appropriate, trying to screen for any potential hiccups in their birth journey.     

As a Virtual Doula I am available to you  by phone, text, email or Skype for prenatal support. If you'd prefer we can schedule an in-home prenatal planning session to go over your birth plan and any concerns you might have regarding your birth.   I am your go-to source of evidence based information to help you make informed decisions.  My role is to help you have the birth you and your partner desire.  

During the birth, I am available by phone text or email.  I can offer suggestions to the mom or her partner for coping strategies.  I can help you figure out when is the best time to go to the hospital.  I can also help you navigate the sometimes complicated and confusing decisions you might be asked to make.  Skype conversations are possible if schedules allow.  

After the birth, I want to celebrate with you.  You may have breastfeeding or normal new parent questions.  Wouldn't it be reassuring to know that you have a knowlegable, experienced non-judgemental professional available to you?
